Punjab AAP vows to forge movement against BJP's 'Dictatorial' actions

The Punjab branch of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) decided to address the arrest of their national leader, Arvind Kejriwal, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over his alleged involvement in Delhi's 2021-22 excise policy. The decision came during a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, attended by AAP MLAs from the state.

AAP's response

Following the meeting, Chief Minister Mann expressed solidarity with Kejriwal and vowed to fight for justice against what they perceive as the misuse of central agencies by the BJP government. The AAP leadership reiterated their commitment to give a strong response to the BJP's actions.

The AAP plans to mobilize support against what they term as BJP's "dictatorial" actions. They intend to organize a widespread movement across Punjab, with MLAs and leaders visiting villages in all 117 assembly constituencies to raise awareness about their cause. Additionally, they will actively participate in the 'Maha Rally' announced by the INDIA bloc at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 31, aiming to gather support from the masses against what they see as threats to democracy.

Mann emphasized the need for unity among opposition parties, stressing that leaders from various political factions within the INDIA bloc will join forces to defend democracy. He criticized the BJP's alleged suppression of opposition voices, citing the incarceration of opposition leaders and the arrest of Kejriwal without substantial evidence.

Overall, the AAP's strategy involves grassroots mobilization and collaboration with other opposition parties to challenge what they perceive as authoritarian actions by the ruling BJP.
